Okay, I'm new here, so please be nice.I have tried to find this elsewhere, but there are just droves of posts to go through. I just upgraded to a Motorola RAZR V3xx and in an effort to try and save some money (since you can't transfer ringtones from old phones) I wanted to create my own ringtones to transfer to my phone. From other posts I have found, I know that the file size has to be under 600kb and either 192 or 128kbps (although one post said they could be up to 256kbps).
Anyway, I have a program to do this. I took an mp3, cut to the piece of song I wanted and created a new mp3. It was well under the parameters. (It was actually only 325kb and 128kbps.) So, I transfer it to the phone via bluetooth and it ends up in music with no choice to put it elsewhere.
I removed all artist and album tagging, etc. Well, it still won't apply as ringtone. I went into the song properties and I noted that under the 'apply possible' it says 'no.' I am assuming this is why the song that is of the proper size parameters will not apply as a ringtone. So, long story short-how do I change this?
What do I have to do to the song when I transfer it to have that 'apply possible' thing say 'yes' and get my song as a ringtone? Any help is greatly appreciated. When you say there are ways to remove it, are you talking about the 300kb size limitation? I had an older v3xx and 50+ ringtones on my old phone (the limatation was.

It's not as difficult as some on these forums would make it seem, however it is a vital bit of knowledge to make certain you ALWAYS back up your phone. With that said, you can go to the following site, , and browse their forums for how to do so.
They also include the tools to do this in their downloads section. Keep in mind though, show some discretion when choosing what you apply for your ringtone. There's no way anyone lets their phone ring for the full length of the average song. If they disable their voicemail so they can hear a whole song as a ringtone, they probably don't get many calls. That's about all I can say in this forum as any kind of modifications do void your warranty as well as nullify the insurance (if you have it). Thanks a lot for the info.
I'll check it out. Yeah, I don't really care for the guys who let their phones ring for minutes. I just wanna be able to preserve my old. It's not that I want to listen to my ring tone for 10 minutes. It's just that I don't like the idea of having to create a specific ring tone version of all the songs I want to use as ringtone, rather then just simply selecting one from the music library on my phone.
All decent phones can do that. Let me take the opportunity to express my feelings about this phone here. I really regret I got a it!
The whole phone was designed to rip you off. $50 for the software for it!? The phone should have come with a CD. Not to mention the MediaNET and CV buttons right between the soft keys and the green/red ones.:-/. I agree with you on the cost of MPT. Personally I would rather have one that can do the same, but not just on Motorolas for that amount. As for the CV and MediaNet buttons, you can always just add the Lock Application feature to those so should you accidentally hit the button, it will require you to enter your Unlock Code, giving you enough time to cancel out of it.

(On a sidenote about the MP3s as ringtones: Even for most songs, the phone would be answered during the Intro, which usually doesn't include much anyhow. So it's better off to make a snippet of the part of the song you enjoy hearing either way).
